Ongoing Projects / Upcoming Projects: Getting to the finish line!
Once the ship lap tongue in groove walls, hickory wood floors and birch ceiling panels were completed and in place, it's now all about the projects. Click image to get behind the scenes details.
Catio - First Big Project
In order to move into this tiny home structure with this furry, 4 legged creature the Catio (outdoor feline patio space) had to be in place. Animal owners know what's needed to live in harmony with their own personal pets. They too should be able to live healthy and comfortable in the new (probably smaller) space. There are certain habits that this rescue kitty insists upon and it's easier to think, design and create spaces for everyone that's to be in the THOW so that all can thrive.
How Does this hole look for a Pantry space?
I saw this pantry space idea on line in the TH that was my design inspiration. I loved the "Briar Hale/Jeff Hobbes" tiny house (New Zealand) because it looked like a real entertainment space. Like hers, I wanted an open airy "Great Room" with big windows and lots of natural light. I wanted it to be open and inviting. This pantry was in her space, it utilized the space between the studs and I have of course modified it slightly it for my space.
Awesome Cat Creations
This picture is pretty busy here, but the first item that was in place for me was my desk! I love it. I have taken a part a Discovery World All in One loft that I have had since 2007 and it has made over 15 moves with me and served me so incredibly well! Now, it is all over this TH and I loved re-using and recycling it! But in addition to the desk, next to it is a cat stair step sculpture that also was to serve (and now does serve!) as an armrest for the couch. It also holds drinks for one visitor on that side of the couch! In addition, on the wall up in the air can only faintly be seen, the Cat Crossing that my furry friend uses to move from loft to loft with ease!
Kayak Workbench (Pull Out Guest couch)
Balancing the kayak upside down for an outdoor workspace to start on the pull out guest/storage couch. It's all about storage space when it comes to organized tiny living and the under couch space is something I am really counting on. I love how this project came out! I got most of the main slat pull ideas from this guy here. I love what he did! But as usual, I had to modify it to fit my entertainment needs and I love how it came out!!
Compost Toilet & Bath Plumbing
This project is driving me crazy. It should be done, complete, in place, OVER! But it's not because I have the Separett compost toilet (which I am very psyched about and would like to actually try it!) which requires 24/7 exhaust vent to make sure the #2 is always drying out with no liquids (this toilet does not allow the mixing of #1 & #2 which is why this one is known for no odor, no smell). But that required drilling a major hole in the wall, which I hate doing. There's also a steam fan for the shower in there - another hole now drilled. Then the actual plumbing vent hole behind the toilet wall - now drilled. Then there's the consideration of the gray water tank and where it sits under the TH. Also this of course must be done with P-traps (no gases back into the bathroom from anywhere). The under sink plumbing must also tie in for a cute, but tiny IKEA sink with its own plumbing line intricacies.
Hall Tree/ Coat Rack / Window Perch
I love this thing too! I bought two of these shoe benches and cut one in half to get the proper width needed overall. Glued them, screw reinforcements together but added holes for a coat rack that I found. This is also a bench for a modified "mud room" spot on entry so folks can remove shoes comfortably. It also serves as a perch, cat nap position via an attached bamboo platform created from the leftover pieces. WAIT until you see it in action!
